Clippers are the well known as a dysfunctional organization. They have a potential all-star on their hands and Clippers general manager claim they’ll do everything they can to keep Griffin. via ESPN

“I can guarantee you he will only ever be a Clipper,” general manager Neil Olshey said of his prized rookie. “If [Oklahoma City Thunder general manager] Sam Presti arrived on Kevin Durant’s doorstep at midnight on July 1st with an extension, understand that Blake Griffin lives two blocks away from me in Manhattan Beach so it’s going to be a much shorter commute for me.”

Good PR move but the chances of Griffin staying with the Clippers is extremely low. Clippers have been here before. They’ve always had good young players but for various reasons were unable to re-sign them: Lamar Odom, Elton Brand, Corey Maggette, list goes on. Clippers have won 10 of their last 14 games and beat the Lakers and the Heat. It takes a lot more than that to shake off the franchise’s stigma of constantly losing. Unless owner Donald Sterling changes his ways and actually care about winning, he has to pay up and surround Eric Gordon and Blake Griffin with good role players. Their future looks bright but knowing the Clippers, it will change to a cloudy forecast in an instant.
