We all knew Celtics would be softer without Perkins. But damn. They struggled against a lineup of Bill Walker, Jared Jeffries and Roger Mason in crunch time. Now that’s really soft. They are not going back to finals this year.
Boston Celtics are without both O’Neals (as usual) and Troy Murphy (lol). They’ve lost three of their last four games. Nonetheless, it will be tough to beat them in a playoff series. Only Chicago and Miami pose a legitimate threat. And Boston can beat Miami in 6 games.
Last time Celtics and Suns met, Garnett sucker punched Channing Frye in the groin. A few days later Suns’ coach said he lost respect for KG. The rematch was set last night. via Boston Globe
“Alvin Gentry was asking me for tickets to the first round of the playoffs,’’ Garnett said. “I told him I’d hook him up.’’
KG left with the last laugh even if it cost him a T. Totally worth it to rub in the fact Suns weren’t making the playoffs this year.
Kendrick Perkins was traded on Thursday along with four other Celtics in three different trades. Celtic fans are understandably upset and panicking about the remainder of the season. Fans watched Perkins as a player fresh out of High School grow to become the top low post defenders in the league and a champion. It’s rough on both sides to say good bye to eight years.
“There was a lot of crying, lot of hugging going on,” said Perkins. “And a lot of it was me.”
And Kevin Garnett showing his vulnerable side
Many forget that before KG and Ray Allen fell onto his lap, Ainge has always been a horrible GM. Celtics fans know who to blame if they don’t reach the Finals.
Someone’s gotta interview Shaq about Nate’s departure. The most incredible duo this league has ever seen didn’t last a season. Ainge robbed us all.
