At first glance, Knicks gave up a lot: “Danilo Gallinari, Raymond Felton, Wilson Chandler, the Knicks’ 2014 first-round pick, two second-round picks New York acquired from the Golden State Warriors in the David Lee sign-and-trade and $3 million” (yahoo). Wilson Chandler wasn’t signed long term and he would become a bench player if he wasn’t traded. Danilo Gallinari is trigger happy with his shots and plays mediocre defense. And Raymond Felton was only signed for 2 years because the Knicks are eyeing Deron Williams or Chris Paul in the future.
It’s too bad Mike D’Antoni is still the coach. The fun will be over by May every year. The East playoffs are going to be a bloodbath. Boston, Miami, Chicago, New York, and to a lesser extent Orlando.
Denver will have to rebuild but at least they can still compete for now. And they’re better off than Cleveland. Both franchises were “saved” by drafting Melo and LeBron, respectively. And now both have to deal with their departures.
