It’s being widely reported that Brandon Roy is back to practice this week and could suit up as soon as Friday. Roy is only three weeks removed from arthroscopic surgery on both of his knees. Many, myself included, believed it to be a career ending injury. He had no cartilage on his knees and it was just bone on bone. Roy has returned from injury too soon before and it was to his detriment. Blazers front office are horrible human beings. I’d venture a guess that it’s them that give out these orders. They didn’t want to pay Darius Miles and had their medical staff label him as unable to play. Only to be exposed a few months later when Memphis Grizzlies signed him.
Knowing his competitive nature, Roy wants to return as quickly as possible. But it’s irresponsible for the medical staff to humor him. It’s a damn shame. Roy was headed for super star status. Instead, he’ll join Penny Hardaway and Grant Hill as great players plagued by injuries in their prime. Maybe Phoenix will sign Roy and rejuvenate him like they did with Hill. Let’s hope I’m wrong about this and Roy is actually healthy enough to play.
