Atlanta Hawks’ Center Zaza Pachulia on CNN last night:

“It’s very important. First of all, with the U.S. being involved, like they are involved today, there will be no war and there will be peace in the country. That’s a very important thing, I think, you know. It’s not only about Georgia. The whole world don’t want to see war. So obviously the U.S. is a huge country. They have a huge impact in the world. So it’s very important for them to be aggressive and stop the war and stop Russian aggression.”

Since the fighting broke out, Pachulia has been very active in spreading the message of peace. He attended rallies on Sunday and Tuesday night, and has appeared on CNN twice.

After scoring 24 points in Germany’s opening win over Angola on Sunday, Kaman said his father told him, “You’re not German, you’re American.”

Kaman says that’s not exactly right.

“He said, ‘When you’re playing the USA, I’m going for USA, basically,’ ” Kaman said. “He didn’t want to support me when I played the USA. He said, ‘I hope the USA beats you.’

“I figured I was an American, I’m playing for Germany, traitor is the first thing that comes to your mind,” Kaman said after Tuesday’s 87-64 wipeout by Greece.

“But I don’t care. I’m here to do what I want to do. I’m not here to please everybody else. . . .

“I’m happy with my decision. I’m still an American citizen. I still play in the NBA. I still live in Los Angeles. I’m still from Michigan. I just chose to go with my heritage a little farther back and see if they’d allow me to play for them and I did.”

from the Guardian staff at guardian.co.uk, article published on Sunday August 10 2008

Spain’s Basketball Federation has published a good luck advert for their men’s team, the world champions, in which they stand pulling at the sides of their eyes in a slit-eyed gesture.

There is no obvious intention to upset their Olympic hosts in Beijing, but the irresponsible picture is likely to cause controversy and could be interpreted so as to lead to accusations of racism.

Kobe Bryant vs. the Zone Defense

Posted by Admin in Uncategorized

Nicely made video detailing the superior defenses that Bryant and other superstars have to go up against in the modern era of basketball. Unlike he 80′s and 90′s isolation brand of basketball, Kobe is the most doubled-teamed perimeter player in the history of the NBA. This video was made by youtube member KB42PAH, who seems to think Kobe is a better player than Michael Jordan.

Michael Jordan’s Brother Larry Can Fly Through the Roof

Posted by Admin in Uncategorized

This is Larry Jordan, older brother of legend Michael Jordan, dunking a basketball at 5’8. That is some MAJOR ups.

One big question that arises: How is Michael Jordan 6’6 and his brother only 5’8″?

We’ll never know, Neither of his parents are more than 5′ 9″ tall. Maybe he drank a ton of milk. Maybe he’s just a genetic freak of nature, destined to play basketball.
