Sometime earlier this week, Barkley paid $400,000 to the Wynn hotel in Las Vegas. The resort filed a May 14 civil complaint in Nevada state court demanding Barkley to repay four $100,000 casino markers, or loans, received last Oct. 18 and 19.
Barkley also had to pay $40,000 for statutory and bad check processing fees.
Charles Barkley said Monday, May 19th that he will stop gambling, at least for now, less than a week after acknowledging he owed a $400,000 debt to a Las Vegas Strip casino.
“I like to go into Vegas, it’s a fun place, but you know what, I’ve got to stop gambling. That’s the bottom line,” Barkley said during TNT’s pregame show before Game 7 between San Antonio and New Orleans. “I am not going to gamble anymore. For right now, the next year or two, I’m not going to gamble.”
“I have no, no money problems whatsoever. Nobody’s coming after me for money,” he said. “I screwed up and didn’t pay them in a significant amount of time. Could they have handled it differently? Yes. But it was my fault.”

Gainesville Florida authorities have charged Chicago Bulls forward Joakim Noah with possession of marijuana and having an open container of alcohol. Noah was arrested around 1:50 a.m. Sunday, May 25th after an officer spotted him on a sidewalk holding a plastic cup containing an amber drink, a violation of city law. Officers also found marijuana in his pocket.
Noah led the Gators to consecutive national championships before being selected ninth overall in last June’s draft by the Bulls. He averaged 6.6 points and 5.6 rebounds in 74 games as a rookie.
He could face up to 6 months in jail and a $500 fine for the marijuana charge.
